Kelowna Young Parents Program

~ Now accepting registration for September 2011~
Located at the Kelowna Senior Secondary School (1079A Raymer Avenue)
24 licensed child care spaces for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years and parenting support for young parents continuing their education

Priority to teen parents attending any school in School District No. 23

 Who is Eligible?


Priority: is for children of young parents, 20 years and younger, who are attending any school within SD No. 23, working towards completion of high school. If space is available, young parents who are continuing their education at a post secondary school within the area may be accepted. Community parents may also be eligible if space is available.

How Do I Register?

Contact the Day Care Co-ordinator at 250.868.1377 to check if openings are available and to arrange an interview.  During the summer months contact the Kelowna Child Care Society at 250.762.3536.

Where is the Day Care Located?

The Day Care is located on the Kelowna Secondary School Property in a separate building. We can accomodate twenty-four children from six weeks to age three.

 When Is the Day Care Open?

The Day Care is open to accommodate the needs of the students, usually 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The daycare operates with School District #23's calendar, from September to June.

 What are the Program Objectives?

  • to assist young parents in continuing their education

  • to provide quality Day Care to children of young parents

  • to provide an environment where parents can enhance their parenting skills


 

Please note: Re: Registration for September 2011

The Kelowna Young Parent Day Care Program only has openings for young parents who are under 20, finishing their high school education. All other parents registering will be put on a wait list.  

*For September, 2011, parents who have pre-registered and are accepted into the program will receive a letter in August 2011 with information on the registration process.

 

 

 

 

The Kelowna Young Parents Program is operated by the Kelowna Child Care Society in partnership with School District #23, The Ministry of Child and Family Development, The Ministry of Human Resources and The Ministry of Health.
